Tekoa native Susannah Scaroni has once again demonstrated her remarkable strength and resilience, earning a silver medal for Team USA in the T54 5,000-meter race at the Paris Paralympics. This achievement adds to her already impressive collection of Paralympic medals, following her gold medal win in Tokyo three years ago.

On Saturday, at the iconic Stade de France, Scaroni crossed the finish line in 10 minutes, 45.18 seconds, securing second place by a mere 1.5 seconds behind gold medalist Catherine Debrunner, who set a new Paralympic record. Scaroni’s determination and commitment continue to inspire many, as she now proudly holds three Paralympic medals, including a bronze from the 800 meters race in Tokyo.

Although she did not participate in Bloomsday 2024, Scaroni’s legacy in the Lilac Bloomsday 12-kilometer race remains strong, having claimed victory five times in the past. Her achievements reflect not only her incredible athletic ability but also her enduring spirit and dedication to her sport.
